Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Dignity Independent Living?
Dignity Independent Living provides shared housing in a structured, supportive environment designed to help individuals regain stability and independence. Residents share a comfortable home while accessing community support, guidance, and resources to build a sustainable path forward.
2. Who qualifies to live in a Dignity Independent Living home?
Our program serves single adults who need a safe and supportive place to live while working toward personal growth and self-sufficiency. This may include individuals transitioning from homelessness, recovery, or other life challenges that have made stable housing difficult to maintain.
3. What kind of support services are available?
Residents receive access to ongoing support through life skills coaching, and resource connections for healthcare, counseling, job readiness, and community programs. Our focus is on promoting accountability, stability, and personal development in a safe, respectful environment.
4. How are housemates selected or matched?
We take time to ensure every resident is placed thoughtfully. Housemate matching is based on personality, compatibility, and level of independence. Before move-in, participants complete an intake and brief interview to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and supported in their new living environment.
5. Is Dignity Independent Living affordable?
Yes. Our homes are intentionally priced to remain affordable for individuals on limited or fixed incomes. Rent is typically based on a set monthly rate. In some cases, residents may also use vouchers or other assistance programs to help cover costs.
6. What amenities are included?
Each home includes fully furnished bedrooms, shared living and dining areas, kitchens, and on-site laundry facilities. Some locations offer outdoor spaces and community areas for gatherings, workshops, and group activities. All homes are clean, well-maintained, and designed for comfort and privacy.
7. How long can I stay?
The length of stay depends on each individual’s situation and progress toward independence. Some residents stay for a few months as they transition, while others remain longer-term if ongoing support is needed. Our goal is to help each person move forward at a healthy and realistic pace.
8. How do I apply for housing?
To apply, contact Dignity Independent Living directly through our website or by phone. You may also be referred by a case manager, community organization, or healthcare provider. Applicants complete an intake form and brief interview to determine eligibility and program fit.
9. Is Dignity Independent Living safe?
Yes. Resident safety is a top priority. We maintain secure, well-kept properties with clear house rules, staff check-ins, and safety protocols. We foster a respectful, substance-free environment where all residents can feel at ease and focus on rebuilding their lives.
10. Do you provide housing for families or children?
Currently, our program serves single adults only. We do not provide housing for families or individuals with children at this time. We are happy to refer families to local agencies or shelters that can better accommodate their needs.
11. Do you assist with rent or utility payments?
We do not directly provide rent or utility assistance. However, we can connect applicants with local organizations and community resources that specialize in financial aid and supportive services.
12. Are program fees refundable?
All program fees are non-refundable. We encourage potential residents to ask questions before move-in to ensure our program is the right fit. If it isn’t, we’ll make every effort to help you find a suitable referral or alternative housing option.
